Last updated: October 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Check Before Trust ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use checkbeforetrust.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. If you register, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
Report content. When you submit a scam report, we collect the details you provide, including the entity being reported, the description, and any evidence files you choose to upload. You may submit reports anonymously.
Usage data. We automatically collect standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, primarily for security (rate limiting, abuse prevention) and analytics purposes.
Cookies. We use session cookies to keep you logged in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. If advertising is enabled on this site, our advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may use cookies to serve relevant ads. See Section 6 below.
2. How We Use Information

- To review, moderate, and publish scam reports.
- To communicate with you about your account or in response to messages you send us.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. What We Never Ask You to Submit
We explicitly instruct users never to upload passwords, credit card numbers, bank account details, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal information in reports or evidence. If such information is submitted anyway, we will remove it upon discovery or request.
4. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information: with service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g. hosting); when required by law or to respond to legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Check Before Trust, our users, or the public; or with your consent.
Reports you submit publicly (unless anonymous) may display your display name alongside the report. Anonymous reports never display any identifying information publicly.
5. Data Retention
We retain account and report data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us.
