These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of checkbeforetrust.com (the "Service"), operated by Check Before Trust. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. User-Submitted Content

The Service allows users to submit reports, evidence, and community confirmations ("User Content"). You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of any User Content you submit. By submitting User Content, you grant Check Before Trust a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content as part of the Service.

You agree not to submit User Content that: is knowingly false or submitted in bad faith to harm a person or business without reasonable basis; infringes another party's intellectual property or privacy rights; contains sensitive personal information such as passwords, card numbers, or government ID numbers; or violates any applicable law.

3. No Guarantee of Accuracy

Trust Scores, risk levels, and verification statuses displayed on the Service are generated from community reports, an internal scoring algorithm, and moderator review. They are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute a guarantee that any website, phone number, individual, or company is safe or unsafe. An entity with no reports is labeled "Not Reported," not "Safe." Always exercise independent judgment before sending money, sharing personal information, or entering into any agreement.

4. Moderation

We review submitted reports before they are published and reserve the right to approve, reject, edit, verify, merge, or remove any report or User Content at our sole discretion, including in response to a dispute or a notice of inaccurate information.

5. Account Responsibilities

If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

6. Prohibited Conduct

  • Attempting to bypass security measures, rate limits, or moderation.
  • Uploading malicious files or exploiting the evidence upload system.
  • Submitting defamatory content with actual knowledge of its falsity.
  • Harassing other users or impersonating any person or entity.
  • Using automated tools to scrape or overload the Service without permission.

7. Advertising

The Service may display advertisements, including those served through Google AdSense or similar networks, to support free access to the Service. See our Privacy Policy for details on advertising cookies.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Check Before Trust shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including reliance on any Trust Score, risk level, or User Content.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to other users or the Service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
